  • PromisePay is an online service that makes it easy to pay off your total balance and become debt-free. PromisePay works with Newport News Waterworks and related utilities to offer flexible payment plans for your debt.

  • Newport News Waterworks customers with a total balance of $50 or more are eligible for a payment plan. Customers do not need to be past due on their bill to be eligible for a payment plan.

  • Newport News Waterworks’ goal is to ensure that you can comfortably navigate your financial obligations with us while maintaining your essential water service. Newport News Waterworks offers payment plans to help customers get back on their feet and protect themselves from subsequent late fees or water service shutoffs.

  • Sign up in minutes with three easy steps:

    1. Choose a plan that works for you. We offer a wide range of options.

    2. Make your first payment. PromisePay accepts credit/debit cards, bank transfers (ACH), Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

    3. Pay off your balance over time. We make it easy with automated monthly payments and reminders.

  • Customers without access to a credit/debit card or bank account may enroll with a prepaid debit card. These reloadable, prepaid cards can be purchased at your local grocery store and may be refilled and used for automatic payments. The card needs to be registered and funded before enrolling. Please note: these are not gift cards. Some cards have activation fees, so you will need to load enough to cover the activation fee and the PromisePay plan enrollment payment.

  • Newport News Waterworks customers with a total balance of $50 or more are automatically qualified for a payment plan.

  • Your payment plan covers your past due balance and your current charges as of the day you enroll. However, you must pay all new water service bills with Newport News Waterworks directly.

  • Your new bills must be paid to Newport News Waterworks to keep your water service on. Your agreed upon plan payments must be paid to PromisePay for past due balance payment processing.

  • If you need an extension for your plan payment or need to make a change to your plan, just let us know. We are here for you and will do whatever we can to help you make it work.

  • If you stay current on both your agreed-upon plan payments AND pay all new water service charges before the bill due date, you can avoid water service shut offs and subsequent late fees.

  • Yes, if you sign up for a payment plan with PromisePay you can still get any available community-based grants or other relief that you are otherwise qualified for.

  • Newport News Waterworks is currently shutting water services off for non-payment. Customers can avoid water service shut-off by enrolling in a PromisePay plan online at nnva.promisepay.com or by contacting a PromisePay agent at +1 (757) 703-4005 to enroll.

  • Yes, enrolling in a PromisePay plan will protect an account from water service shut offs if your payment plan is in good standing AND you pay all new bills that are not covered by the plan on time, directly with Newport News Waterworks.

  • In order to get your water service restored, you can either:

    1. Contact Newport News Waterworks by phone and submit payment for 100% of your past due charges to have services restored: (757) 926-1000. Agents are available Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm EST

    OR

    1. Visit the PromisePay website at nnva.promise-pay.com to enroll in a PromisePay plan or call at +1 (757) 703-4005 Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm EST.
  • Water service bills are considered past due after the original due date as stated on the invoice.

  • Newport News Waterworks customer support agents are available from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm EST, Monday through Friday. Newport News Waterworks recognizes the following holidays, on which representatives are not available:
